This week marks the second Sceptre Week of Action of 2025 — a national initiative focused on tackling knife crime and reducing its devastating impact on our communities. Sceptre aims to raise awareness of knife crime and highlight our collective role in detecting, preventing, and reducing it. In Lancashire, we have a robust plan in place. We're working collaboratively across departments and with our partners to reduce knife-related crime and protect those most at risk. Teams across the force will be involved in a wide range of activities — from targeted enforcement operations and weapons sweeps to school visits, community engagement, and partnership work.
In your area neighbourhood officers will be visiting schools advising young people of the dangers and consequences of carrying knives. There will be police surgeries being held where residents can raise and concerns or issues they may have. These will take place at the following times and locations.
Monday 17th 1.30 - 2.30pm Coop Car park, Banks Monday 17th 4 - 5 pm Haskayne Village Hall Wednesday 19th 1-2pm Booths Cafe, Hesketh Bank Wednesday 19th 3-4.30pm Tarelton Police Station Thursday 20th 10 - 12am Riverside Holiday Park Banks
Officers will also be conducting high visibility patrols in the area and carrying out knife sweeps in some of our local parks
